With the Aqua & Opal Studio shop launching next week, We thought it would be a great idea to share our story.
Since she was a little girl, Audrey Heiberger would create birthday cards for family and friends using Microsoft Publisher. Audrey cherished seeing the joy in their eyes as they opened the card. As Audrey grew older and thought about what she wanted to do for the rest of her life, she took a graphic design class her freshman year of high school. That was when Audrey discovered she wanted to study and have a career in graphic design. When it came time to fill out college applications, Audrey wrote about her dream of creating stationery and owning her own business.
Once Audrey went to college and started her graphic design classes, she discovered all the different possibilities she could do with graphic design. In order to be a better candidate for job openings, Audrey decided to take a web design course. That was when she discovered she liked the graphic design side and coding side merged into one job.
After four years of college flew by, Audrey took an internship at a communications company. As her internship was coming to a close in 2015, she had a panic attack of what was going to happen next in her life. Audrey heard a voice telling her to look at the Paper Source store. She looked up the store online and signed up for a workshop on making invitations. The workshop was so much fun, she started thinking of all the possibilities she could do. She bought different paper stock, envelopes, stamps, etc. to start making cards. Audrey kept going back to the store to take more workshops and buy more supplies. She loved coming home after working all day to spend time off of the computer and away from technology to create greeting cards with her hands.
Around Christmas time later that year, Audrey decided to make a couple of different greeting cards for her grandmothers, aunts, and older cousins. They loved the thoughtful gift and told her in their thank you notes that she should start her own Etsy. With encouragement from family and friends, Audrey began to do research on opening an online shop. After about a year of research, Audrey has taken the leap to create stationery for people to send to their loved ones.
